How to Reinstall Microsoft Edge on Windows 11

The first time Microsoft Edge was introduced on Windows 10. Microsoft Edge is a chromium-based web browser same as Google Chrome. Microsoft Edge provides a good user interface and smooth experience. Although there are plenty of other web browsers such as Chrome, FireBox, and Opera, people love to use Microsoft Edge.

Some Windows users are facing some issues with their Edge browser. Therefore, In this guide, we will walk you through how to reinstall Microsoft Edge on Windows 11.

How to Reinstall Microsoft Edge

Note: Before any attempt, you should reset your Edge browser, It could help to get rid of reinstalling.

  1. First of all, close the Microsoft Edge if running.
  2. Open the File Explorer and under the View tab enable the Hidden Items menu.
  3. Navigate to the following Location: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages
  4. Find the folder named “Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe” and delete it by using the delete key on your Keyboard. This will help you to Reinstall Microsoft Edge.

  1. It will start preparing to recycle from packages and take a while to complete this process. Wait until it finishes.
  2. Once it is finished, It will ask “Are you sure you want to remove this Folder”, click the “Yes” and move ahead.
  3. It may ask “Do you want to permanently delete this folder?”, simply hit the “Yes” button.

This process will take a couple of minutes to delete all the items from the folder. It may take your permission to delete some files and folders, just keep deleting all items.

“If some files don’t delete, just skip it.”

  1. Next, Restart your PC.
  2. Then, Open the PowerShell and run as Administrator.
  3. Navigate the user directory, enter the command “cd C:\users\username” and hit the Enter button.

Important: If the username contains white space just use inverted commas “user name”. “Replace the Username with your Windows user name.”

  1. Copy the Following script on PowerShell Window, and hit this enter button to execute this command.
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
Run the script on Windows PowerShell to Reinstall Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
  1. Wait until this process completes and you get a confirm message.
  2. Then, Restart your PC and start using your Microsoft Edge as before without any problem.

Now you have successfully reinstalled Microsoft Edge on your Windows 11 computer. Open the Browser and see if it works fine.
