You like Cortana because Cortana gives you the information whenever you ask something. Cortana was first introduced with Windows 10 family, It is a virtual assistant that collects the information from the internet on behalf of you and share it with you. However, When Cortana doesn’t work properly due to some errors, then We can reinstall Cortana.

If you say anytime “Hey Cortana” but Cortana doesn’t respond, It makes you angry when you try to wake up Cortana over and over but it doesn’t reply. If you’re tired but Cortana is not working, Now you can reinstall Cortana on Windows 10.

Reinstall Cortana for Current User

Reinstalling the Cortana is quite easy, you have to run a simple script on PowerShell Windows, that’s it, Cortana is ready to use. This method is applicable when you want to reinstall Cortana for the current user only.

  1. Press Windows+X shortcut key on the keyboard, then open PowerShell Admin, or, you can search PowerShell Admin on taskbar search and run as Administrator.

  1. Next, Type the following command in the PowerShell and hit enter. However, the command is way long, copy and paste will be easy for you.
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
How to Reinstall Cortana
  1. Wait for a while, Once it is finished, restart your PC.
  2. Now, Cortana is installed, you can use Cortana with any problem.

Reinstall Cortana for All User

If your computer has more than one user, then you can reinstall Cortana for all users, if Cortana is not working. In some cases Cortana works for some user’s accounts but not for all, Therefore We need to Re-register Cortana.

  1. Open the PowerShell again and run as Administrator.
  2. Next, run the following command:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Microsoft.Windows.Cortana | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
  1. Once it is finished, Restart your PC and start using Cortana as before without any hassle.

In some cases, Cortana still doesn’t work after reinstalling. You should not worry, Take a backup of your important files and reset the Windows to factory state. When you’ll reset your Windows, this will reinstall Windows as well. Once you’ve done this you can use Cortana.
